About
I’ve moved back to New York City after 26 years in California where I partnered with Tim Matheson, and raised three bright, beautiful and kind children. I’m a mom. It’s been the most important job of my life. Be where you are and give it all you’ve got. I think I did that.
I’m also a dancer. When I’m lucky I get to work with my good friend, Michael Schumacher , who helped bring me back to the dancing life with his amazing improvisation skills and generous spirit. I’ve also learned to shoot and edit my own work in my quest to say something about my insides. I make videos to get stuff out and to learn to spend time with all the different parts of myself.
I love to break rules and any sort of limits. I don’t believe in black or white or really ever arriving, but try my best to feel alive and be purposeful.
Before my family life I danced in New York with the Eliot Feld Ballet (now Ballet Tech) where Eliot created some beautiful ballets for me. I got my turn to diva it up and live the artist’s life and tour different parts of the world. I loved the camaraderie of being in a company and the backstage life of sweat and velvet and the quest to create something beautiful. I also worked with Baryshnikov and Tharp, among others, in between dance clubs, dressing up and learning to fend for myself.
The first part of my life was spent moving and following my sister and just trying to keep it together. I’m an Air Force brat and the youngest of four, and was pretty traumatized from my Father’s alcoholism. But as Nietzsche said, “One must have chaos in oneself in order to give birth to a dancing star.” I’m going to call that my motto. Do something with your junk! I’m grateful for life and the obstacles that help me grow.
At 52 I’m learning to let go, and be more myself than ever. I want to continue my journey to be of service in life and manifest my creative spirit. I love all kinds of communication so don’t hesitate to send me a note. I’d love it!
